The Difference Between kbps And kb/s
Definition:
kbps stands for Kilo Bits Per Second
kb/s stands for Kilo Bytes Per Second
The technical explaination is thus:
A Bit is the smallest piece of information a computer understands.
A Byte is 8 Bits.
There is often alot of confusion with regards to the measurements kbps and kb/s. They are both used to measure, test and quote speeds on the Internet. ISP tend to quote speeds in kbps, so you see broadband packages quoted as 512, 1 Meg (actually 1024kbps), 2 Meg (actually 2048kbps) etc. etc. and browers tend to quote download speeds in kb/s, so 64kb/s, 128kb/s, 256kb/s etc.
You will see that kb/s is 8 times smaller than kbps!
